FIRST EDITION (THIN)

EMBOSSED WITH JOE DEVER'S PERSONAL LIBRARY SEAL

The Forces of Darkness have launched a coordinated assault upon the Free Nations of Magnamund. Their intentions are clear: to overwhelm and annihilate them before an effective counter-offensive can be undertaken.

In THE STORMS OF CHAI, your mission is one of seven that Kai Supreme Master Lone Wolf has initiated to turn back this unprecedented tide of evil before it engulfs all the goodly nations of Magnamund forever.

Will you succeed in your vital quest to retrieve the Eye of Agarash from the city of Pensei and bring it back safely to the Kai Monastery of Lorn, or will you fall victim to the powerful Nadziran Zashnor and the terrible creatures at his command?

The LONE WOLF New Order adventures are a unique interactive fantasy series. Each exciting episode can be played separately, or you can combine them all to create a fantastic role-playing epic in which you are the hero of the story.

Printed on high quality paper, hardbound for durability and wrapped in a sumptuous dust jacket with a stunning colour map on the reverse, this latest Collector’s Edition will compliment your existing Lone Wolf collection perfectly. It will be embossed with Joe's personal library seal.

This book also features the Bonus Adventure: The Tides of Gorgoron by Vincent Lazzari & Joe Dever

THE CURIOUS CASE OF THE SECOND EDITION THAT ISN’T…

Late in May 2016, I took delivery of what I thought was the second edition of The Storms of Chai. I was surprised and pleased that it had arrived four weeks ahead of schedule and assumed, incorrectly, that the printers were trying to compensate for the 4-weeks delay on printing the first edition. Well, this has since turned out to be a case of fact being much stranger than fiction.

When the printers placed the first edition with their sub-contractor in Lithuania, someone in their office took it upon themselves to place an identical order with another of their sub-contractors in Turkey. There was no communication between the persons who placed the orders, and the so-called office manager had no idea that the work had been outsourced twice. Three weeks after the first edition (Lithuania) arrived, the no-so-second edition (Turkey) turns up unexpectedly. In the interim I had ordered a second edition reprint.

There is a very noticeable difference between the Lithuanian and Turkish editions, and that is the thickness of the books. I’ve posted a photo below which illustrates this difference. The spec for both books was identical, so how can one be so much thicker than the other? This is because of the type of paper used. Both the paper weights are identical (90 gms), yet the Lithuanian paper is bulkier whereas the Turkish paper is far more densely compressed.

As a consequence of the Turkish edition being so much slimmer, the dust jacket is proportionately slimmer too. The height and width of the books are identical; it is just the thickness and the type of paper that is different.

So now we find ourselves in a curious situation. Is the Turkish (thin) edition a second edition? Well, no. It was ordered at the same time as the Lithuanian (fat) edition and the content of both books is identical. What we have now are two versions of LW29 first edition, the fat one and the thin one!

In some ways this is a fortunate accident for it means that I can supply fans who missed out on LW29 fat with a copy of LW29 thin. Both are genuinely first editions.

Please note that I have no copies of LW29 fat left. None, zip, zero, rien, nada, keiner, ZERO! They have all sold out. Please do not specifically request LW29 fat; only LW29 thin is available.
